Measuring system for volatile organic compounds
The SIVEVOC system has been developed for the analysis and identification of volatile organic compounds. In this system, sampling, analysis and data processing are fully integrated.
To prevent loss of volatile compounds, a sample of unfiltered water is taken from the ring main of the measuring station without coming into contact with the air. The sample is then transferred to a closed system, after which the volatile compounds are removed from the water at high temperature and condensed at -120°C. The compounds are then separated in a gas chromatograph using a capillary CP-Sil 5 column and measured using a flame ionisation detector. The system itself compares the results to the limits. If the level of a compound is clearly increased, the equipment will trigger an alarm signal that is relayed to the people involved via AQUALARM. The system is used every day for the automatic analysis of 12-hourly collective samples.
